Another application for Scandium: Direct Hydrogen production Hydrogen generation by hydrolysis of Sc–Sn alloy over a wide temperature range as low as 0 C A series of Sc–Sn alloys are prepared by the arc-melting method and their hydrogen generation performance of hydrolysis in pure water is investigated. It was found that only Sc element reacts with water in Sc–Sn alloy, while Sn element is retained as an elemental metal. The reaction temperature of Sc with water can be reduced below 0 C after Sc and Sn are alloyed. The Sc3Sn2 alloy has the best hydrogen generation performance. Its hydrogen conversion rate is up to 90% at 0 C for 100 min as well as when the water temperature dropped from 60 C to 0 C, the average conversion rate in the first 30 min only dropped from 19.95 mL/min•g to 14.31 mL/min•g. The hydrogen generation performance of Sc–Sn alloys depends on the reaction activity after Sc and Sn alloying, the effect of micro galvanic cells and the solidification microstructure in the alloy ingot. Huping Chen, Xiaoming Zhang, Ying Liu, Cong Liu, Lei Jin, Hongshi Li, Xuefang Dai, Guodong Liu, Hydrogen generation by hydrolysis of Sc–Sn alloy over a wide temperature range as low as 0 °C, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Volume 66, 2024, Pages 645-651, ISSN 0360-3199, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijhydene.2024.04.145. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0360319924014186

Guy Bourassa on the Armor Strength of Scandium Canada Guy Bourassa on the Armor Strength of Scandium Canada - YouTube In a recent interview with Tracy Weslosky of InvestorNews, Guy Bourassa, CEO and Director of Scandium Canada Ltd. (TSXV: SCD | OTCQB: SCDCF), highlighted the transformative potential of scandium in the aluminum industry. Describing scandium as a "game changer," Bourassa explained, "You just put a little bit of scandium, very little quantities of scandium, you mix it with aluminum and other minerals and you obtain super strength alloys. Lightweight, as strong as titanium, strength of armor." He emphasized the significant role scandium could play in achieving global net-zero goals by reducing the weight of components, which is critical in industries such as aerospace where scandium is currently utilized in Russian fighter jets like the MiG-29. Bourassa also discussed Scandium Canada's efforts to secure a stable and long-term supply of scandium outside of China and Russia, the current major producers. This initiative is crucial as it addresses the limited commercial production due to insufficient supply. He noted, "There's a big, huge potential latent demand for aluminum with scandium. The only thing that restricts the adoption is the fact that there's no long-term safe supply." Recent milestones under his leadership, such as the signing of a pre-development agreement with the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach, underscore the company's progress and commitment to socially responsible mining. This agreement, he stated, is paramount for the success of the project, allowing pre-development work in harmony with indigenous rights and environmental stewardship. Moreover, Bourassa pointed out the significant government interest and financial support for critical mineral projects, reflecting the strategic importance of scandium in national supply chains. He revealed ongoing efforts to refine scandium extraction methods and the exploration of its uses in 3D printing technologies, which could revolutionize various industrial applications. The CEO's vision is clear: establishing a reliable scandium supply in the West could dramatically boost the metal's adoption across multiple industries, unlocking new technological potentials and reinforcing Scandium Canada's position in the market. About Scandium Canada Ltd. Scandium Canada is a Canadian technology metals company focused on the Al Sc (2%) Master Alloy and scandium.

Scandium Canada Signs Pre-Development Agreement with the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach for its Crater Lake Scandium Project. Copied from: https://scandium-canada.com/news/ MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC – TheNewswire - April 22, 2024 – Scandium Canada Ltd. (the “Company” or "Scandium Canada") (TSXV:SCD); (OTC:SCDCF) is pleased to announce that it has signed a Pre-Development Agreement (the “Agreement”) with the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach (the “Naskapi Nation”) concerning the Company’s Crater Lake scandium and rare earth project in Québec, Canada (the “Crater Lake Project”). This Agreement allows for pre-development activities to be undertaken on the property until a positive feasibility study compliant to NI 43-101 regulation is completed. Guy Bourassa, CEO stated, “I am very glad that we have been able to come to this initial Agreement in a positive and timely manner, clearly confirming our mutual interest in the development of the Crater Lake Project in respect of the parties’ benefit and coexistence on the territory. We are excited and are looking forward to the next season of activities at Crater Lake”. The Agreement promotes a mutually respectful relationship between Naskapi Nation and Scandium Canada concerning all of the pre-development activities to be carried out on the territory in relation with the Crater Lake Project. Scandium Canada recognizes that the Naskapi Nation holds inherent aboriginal rights and treaty rights to and over certain territories within the Company’s Project. Naskapi Chief Theresa Chemaganish added, “Our Nation has a long history with mining activity which has left scars on our land and on our hearts. Until recently, mining exploration was conducted with minimal respect for our rights, despite the fact that our ancestors have occupied Nuchimiyuschiiy, our traditional territory, for millennia, alongside our Innu, Cree, Inuit and more recently, non-Indigenous neighbours. The Pre‑Development Agreement between the Naskapi Nation and Scandium Canada demonstrates that reciprocity is a core value and is reflected in their intent to include the Naskapi Nation in all steps of the development of the Project, while also offering the Naskapi Nation the opportunity to determine if the Project will go ahead. That is the true spirit of partnership, where both parties plan, decide and benefit together.”
