N\u00e5r det er sagt, sentralbankene verden over har i oppdrag \u00e5 s\u00f8rge for\n\u00e5 stabilisere \u00f8konomien, dvs. hindre store utslag i den ene eller annen\nretning. Sentralbanken vil bremse \u00f8konomien i oppgangstider ved \u00e5 heve renten,\nsamt stimulere \u00f8konomien i nedgangstider ved \u00e5 sette ned den samme renten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bevegelsene i rentemarkedet har historisk sett v\u00e6rt en god resesjonsindikator. N\u00e5r \u00ablange\u00bb renter, m\u00e5lt gjennom ti\u00e5rige statsobligasjoner, faller under de \u00abkorte\u00bb rentene, m\u00e5lt gjennom enten trem\u00e5neders eller to\u00e5rige statsrenter, kan dette v\u00e6re et varsel p\u00e5 en kommende resesjon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De \u00ablange\u00bb rentene faller for \u00f8vrig som en f\u00f8lge av at\ninvestorene flytter pengene ut av aksjer (risikofylte papirer) og inn i\n\u00abtrygge\u00bb statsobligasjoner i p\u00e5vente av svakere vekstutsikter.
